Original Abstract

Přinesla změny (a jaké) pandemie covidu?

English abstract

How does the design of things that surround us become queer? Does it necessarily matter who the designer sleeps with, or is it the use of things and space by queer people? Or is it something else and we read design as a way of communication? Since the 19th century, the conflict between the public and private spheres has been defining for queer design and queer households. Has the covid pandemic brought changes (and what)? How can the visibility of gender and sexual minorities be reshaped into the shape of ordinary things? Using the example of the African-American designer Stephan Burks, we will look for answers to these and other questions with the design historian Ladislav Jackson.
