Original Abstract

As society’s reliance on electronic devices and electric vehicles grows, improving lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries’ efficiency, sustainability is essential. This paper investigates innovative methods for producing submicron particles for Li-ion batteries, focusing on spray drying synthesis. This technique involves atomizing a solution into droplets, which are then dried and collected. The study also examines electrostatic precipitation, for capturing particles as small as 10 µm, and its integration with spray drying. Following particle collection, heat treatment is necessary to achieve optimal properties, with temperatures ranging from 750°C to 1,000°C. The study demonstrates the potential of spray drying synthesis and electrostatic precipitation in producing high-quality, low-cobalt cathode materials.
