Original Abstract
Humic acids play important role in soil and natural water chemistry. They can form stable complexes with heavy metals which influences their toxicity in environment. This contribution is aimed at modeling of metal ion transport and immobilization. Use of humic acids in gel state makes possible to prepare it in defined size and shape, which is necessary for mathematical modeling of observed processes. Copper was used as a model metal for experiments due to high affinity to humic acids and stability of formed complexes. Problems of the used experimental arrangement, combined effect of diffusion and (complexation) reaction on the diffusion flow and concentration profile in the gel in dependence on physical conditions and possibilities of mathematical description and modelling of metal ions transport and immobilization are discussed.
