Original Abstract

The utilization of an appropriate material model for realistic modeling of concrete is essential for capturing the behaviour of real structures using nonlinear fracture mechanics. A primary key problem in practical application is the identification of material model parameters. Parameters like fracture energy or tensile strength cannot always be determined by experiments. A health monitoring procedure can provide statistical data on structural response. This, however, gives rise to an inverse FEM problem: what statistical parmeters should be used to reproduce monitored random response?
