Original Abstract

This article deals with three-dimensional reconstruction and visualization of segmented images of human liver with tumors. The source images were observed by standard hospital MR tomography equipment. There were acquired many slices of the liver area in all three planes. There were found the segmentation methods based on level set approach with many advantages. The resultant boundaries found by these methods are closed curves and bounds the whole tumor. The segmentation consists of automated processing of each slice. The found boundaries are consequently used for 3D image creation and the liver tumor is visualized in Matlab environment. The volume of the tumor is calculated and compared with the results of volume evaluation after manual boundary tracing. The algorithms are prepared for implementation to C++ application for medical usage.
