Original Abstract
Czech mechanical and electrical companies are mostly in difficult position. Present result of the Czech economy perhaps shows that their situation is slowly improving. We can discuss about strategies used by these companies and about competitive advantages, which become the most important for them, too. Investing to IT to increase competitiveness creates at companies common part of their budget. Evaluation of effectiveness of these investment is usually rather problematic. Not all companies ask about relation between chosen competitive strategies and usage of IT. The problem is that they should do it! Results of the research presented in this paper shows that there is probably a lot of problems in application of IT in the process of creating of competitiveness respective competitive advantages.
