Original Abstract
The aim of the dissertation was to derive new algorithms for improving the spatial resolution of medical ultrasonic images and suppressing the speckle pattern. The dissertation was oriented at 2-D deconvolution, more specifically it was focused on the essential part of the task, the estimation of the 2-D PSF of the imaging process in the raw radiofrequency (or quadrature) signal domain. The dissertation has contributed to three main research areas in ultrasonic imaging: 1. improvement of spatial resolution, 2. suppresion of speckle pattern, and 3. ultrasonic parametric imaging.
Keywords
ultrasonic imaging, 2-D deconvolution, 2-D homomorphic filtering, 2-D phase unwrapping, speckle suppression, harmonic imaging
