Original Abstract
Contemporary society is aging continuously. This trend increases the need for assistance in order to take care of very old people as well as care of people with special needs. Ambient assisted living with voice technologies can help to provide permanent assistance for maintaining quality of life and limit the costs for medical treatment. This chapter provides a look at the possibilities of modern voice analysis technologies in the field of ambient assisted living and at the signal processing algorithms available today for advanced speech processing systems. Ambient assisted living is nowadays regarded by market projections as one of the more promising activities in the future.
