Original Abstract

The paper deals with analyzing a Vivaldi antenna by the method of moments (MoM) in two domains: in frequency one and in time one. The Vivaldi antenna is a middle-gain slot-line antenna, which slot might be of a rather complicated geometry. In case of frequency-domain analysis, the values of input reflection coefficient S11 computed in MATLAB are compared with measurements at the input slot. Current distribution on the metallic parts of the antenna, which was evaluated by the developed MATLAB program, is verified by computations in IE3D. Dealing with the time-domain analysis, The MATLAB program is developed within three steps. First, the MoM analysis of a simple wire dipole was implemented. Second, the program is extended to analyzing a wire V-dipole. Finally, the program for analyzing a V-dipole is extended to the second dimension, and the Vivaldi antenna is computed. Results of the time-domain analysis are compared with the results of the frequency-domain analysis for a wire dipole only, because the second and the third step of the program development have not been finished yet.
