Micro-certified modules and programmes represent a new approach to the provision of continuing education at BUT. These modules and programmes are closely linked to the application sphere and bring interdisciplinary overlaps. They are designed to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of individuals, typically achieved through a high degree of distance learning.
A micro-credential is a record – certificate – of completing small-scale learning units expressed in ECTS credits and achieving clearly defined and comprehensive learning outcomes, that is, a set of knowledge and skills that form specific competencies.
These learning units are included in the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), subject to a system of standardized quality assurance processes, and are assessed according to transparent and clearly defined criteria.
The main benefits of micro-credentials include the following:
Continuing education with micro-credentials can be implemented at BUT in the form of a Micro Credential (MC) module or a Micro Degree (MD) programme. The MC module is a short-term educational module of a smaller scope with 1 to 5 ECTS credit points, the MD programme is a larger educational programme with 6 to 60 ECTS credit points, which can be composed of thematically coherent blocks.
The conditions of the process of approval and registration of MC modules and MD programmes at BUT are regulated in Directive No. 8/2024 Micro-certified modules and programmes.
All micro-certified modules and programmes are also published in the central database, available at studujnavs.gov.cz.
