Course detail

CAD

FSI-ICAAcad. year: 2010/2011

The lectures provide the student with the knowledge of hardware and software, which is necessary for the computer design of heating and air-conditioning equipment. Workshops enable the student to practically test these systems via solving specific tasks. CAD, together with more advanced software, is used to design heating and air-conditioning equipment.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students learn to work with AutoCAD software, additional modules for Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC).

Prerequisites

Students are expected to have basic computer (OS Windows) skills, i.e. basic work with 2D CAD software, preferred software is AutoCAD.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit requirements: A written test comprises 10 questions (max 20 points). Handing in of the heating project, together with a report containing the relevant calculations (max 80 points). Graded course-unit credit is awarded upon the attainment of at least 50 points.

Aims

The course objective is for students to learn to work with AutoCAD software, additional modules for Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) and MathCAD. This will also help students to generalise their acquired knowledge, thus enabling them to work with other CAD software. Furthermore, the student will master the field of 3D modelling and visualisation.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The work on projects in AutoCAD is regularly consulted.
The building drawings are checked in the 6th week of the semester.
