Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will be able to apply theoretical information mainly from thermo mechanics, hydromechanics and heat and mass transfer to combustion devices and heat exchangers. Lectures are accompanied by seminars where specific technical problems will be solved.

Prerequisites

Thermo mechanics, heat and mass transfer.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Terms of credit: attendance, active participation in the exercise, the successful completion of the test.
Examination: written and verbal correction. The written portion consists of 10 questions for the successful completion must have at least half right.

Aims

The course objective is to make students familiar with the current theoretical designs of boilers and heat exchangers and with their modern development trends. Student will be able to carry out basic thermal, aerodynamic and solidity calculations necessary for the design of boilers and heat exchangers.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is required (min of 80%), submitting the design of a boiler.
