Semester Project

The course is a follow-up to the winter-term course “Semester Project”. Students are preparing themselves for Gradual Project and Diploma Project/Thesis in this course. The course is focused especially on the literature study, business processes study and analysis, and methodological training.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students acquire and practically test their knowledge, which is updated by the factual knowledge from industrial companies. At the end, students should know how to use technical literature, how to co-operate with people employed at a workplace, independently analyze and solve practical problems, and define outputs.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of concepts with respect to Project Management:
- project as a process,
- Project Charter,
- Logical Framework,
- Project analysis,
- Gantt Chart.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Students must pass at least three consultations with the leader of their semester projects, search and study appropriate technical literature, actively co-operate with the selected workplace in an industrial company, and elaborate a written report regarding the problem solving. The grade reflects the quality of achieved results, procedure selections, and students’ active work.

Aims

The aim of the course is to continue in preparing students for working out of their diploma theses, and for their individual work in practice. Therefore, the course includes consultations with the specialists at the faculty, as well as in industrial companies. The students work out their written reports under the professional guidance.
