Course detail

Industrial Robots and Manipulators II

FSI-GPL-KAcad. year: 2010/2011

The course involves end-effectors, peripherals of robotized workplaces and palletization, supplemented by a section dealing with the basic information on production systems. This information is interlinked with a logistic view of production systems performance. With this aim, the course is also devoted to logistics in general and then to company logistics in a greater detail.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course enables the students to acquire the latest findings from launching of stationary industrial robots and manipulators and to enrich the skills related to their integration into RTP, along with peripherals and then mainly with endeffectors that are also the subject of the robotic part of the course on Mechatronics in measuring systems and in robotics, and that are also contained in the recommended literature.

Prerequisites

Basic design, control, programming, drives and transmissions of the industrial robots and manipulators

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The examination has a written and an oral part. The written part contains both the learning material from the previous subject Industrial robots I and from the subject Industrial robots II. The followup oral examination is a defence of the written part supplemented with verification of the two parts (PR I and II), i.e. of the whole complex of the recommended literature that is fully available for the students of the Institute of Production Machines, Systems, and Robotics.

Aims

Students are provided with the basics of modern robotics, mainly with peripherals, logistics, and automated and robotised production systems. The task of the course is to make the students familiar with the necessary interconnection between the findings not only from the area of designing but mainly from the area of projection, control, and application of PRaM in robotized workplaces and automated production systems.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Checking of knowledge in the exercises in the frame of the lectures: Design of the production robots and manipulators I + II
