Creative studio work is the main and essential means of teaching architecture. It is based on the "learning by doing" method, i.e. gaining knowledge and skills by practical application. It consists in the dialogue of the teacher with the student over a project that is being developed. The subject covers thematically the module Urban architecture. This module is defined for each academic year and is focused primarily on the creation of urban residential environment.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student should prove the ability to apply the knowledge and skills gained in the bachelor degree study, to make use of the experience gained in practice, and to prove the capability of inventively approaching the creative work.

Prerequisites

Successful mastering of the subject requires the completion of subjects taught in previous study, which put emphasis on the logic and hierarchy of indispensable information and experience needed for the work of a creative architect.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Studio work can be completed if the student continually works on the assigned design, consults the design with the work's leader, specialists from practice and representatives of public administration. He or she has the duty to submit in due time and complete the assigned work and to present it to public discussion in prescribed terms.

Course curriculum

Semester is divided to the time sections determinate action critical discussion above in course of manufacture projectthat the sympathetic except all students and teachers also invited specialists.

Aims

The objective of teaching creative studio work is to master the design of bigger complexes of buildings in the context od urban planning. The matter is mainly finding solution to the problem areas of cities.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The work on the studio design lasts 13 weeks, and is conducted in form of the student's consultation with the teacher. The time for consultation is set in the schedule. Excused missed teaching can be made up for by agreement with the work's leader.
