Cultural Heritage and an Architect´s Work

FA-KDTAcad. year: 2011/2012

The values of old established cities with ensembles of unique historic plan are to be approached with a certain respect and humility. The measure of all values, both urban and architectural, is the time. The interventions in the historical structures have to be well considered , sensitive, and based on detailed knowledge of the development changes and relationships. The care of urban and architectural heritage reflects the society's cultural maturity, even if its economic potential is to be taken into account. In the context of historic environment, contemporary architecture is not to be rejected, because in the course of time, it also will become a part of history. The processes of development of the theory of care of the historical heritage have to be analysed, and the methods of its protection and renewal
have to be applied in practice.
