Typology of the Town, Typology of the House

The typology taught hitherto deals first and foremost with the functional and layout principles of designing the individual types of buildings. However, architecture is based not only on the functional schemes of buildings. In its development, architecture is connected with the conception and perception of the sites. The subject on the border line of urban planning and architecture tries to find their common features which the architect has to perceive, whether working on an urban development plan or on an interior design.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Synthetic perception of place and time in solving concrete architectural tasks, perception of the influence of urban planning and contextual relationships on the concept of the work of architecture.

Complex of theoretical subjects taugt in the first degree study

Working out of a seminar assignment and its presentation at the seminar.Reactions of other participants in the seminar on the presented work are evaluated.

The subject's aim is to make students acquainted with the method of contextual analysis of place and time in architectural design.
