Postmodern and gender philosophy for PhD. students - winter

The course will delineate philosophical approaches of artists and their inspiration of countemporary philosophy since the birth of posmodernism to the present. Profiles of various artists and their important public artworks will be shown. The course emphasizes current gender issues in the age of IT. By establishing the differences between modern and postmodern ideological basis, we will reach the media determination of classical disciplines and the characteristics of overlaps with intermedia and multimedia expression. We will clarify contemporary views on the perception, visions, and thinking about art through historical retrospective. We will aim at establishing critical relationship both to personal and collective identities, at creating an authentic artistic expression, at examining critical consciousness of an individual towards the society. Essay

Course curriculum

A dialogue between the teacher and students on current topics in art precedes each lecture. The winter semester deals with introduction to postmodern philosophy and art since 1970s, the summer semester focuses on chronologial typologies of gender issues of art up to the present.
