1. The beginnings of a museum, its social context and the basic museum fucntions
2. Collections and their rights
a. evidence, doccumentation, legislative, inner and outer norms (statutes, collection administration regulations, ethical codex, international museum and gallery standards)
b. collection conditions, their security, care, storing, environmental parameters, conservation
3. various museum and gallery models, positions, managing, and funding
a. collection characteristiscs and quality parameters, profiles, collection-making program

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire wider knowlegde in the history and current practices of museums and galleries.

Prerequisites

Students have to have basic orientation in art practices and basic experience in institutional context and in the art world.
