Art as Performance - Winter

FaVU-3UJP-ZAcad. year: 2011/2012

"We should understand artworks not as products of creative processes, but as the processess themselves."
David Davies.

Apart from the emphasis on new technologies and mediality of current artworks, contemporary art expression throughout all genres can be also characterized by strong tendencies to the performative aspect. Analysing this intermedia phenomenon means a general analysis of ways in which art manifests itself. We can understand performance in the wider sense of the word as any output, presentation, or manifestation, or expression of something. Hence our focus resides on on Performance Art (in the narrow sense of the term), but on Performance "in" or "of" Art (that is, action and performativity of art "in" art}.
