Introduction to Philosophy 1 (History) / winter

The first purpose of the course is to acquaint students with the fundamental terminology and basic philosophical method - a thought experiment. The second purpose is to give students basic orientation in the history of philosophy and in the topics of metaphysics, ethics and philosophy of society (namely the evidence of God´s existence, what is the good, what is justice). The third purpose is the presentation of philosophy as the umbrella discipline of aesthetics which is more narrowly understood as the philosophy of art.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The ideal student is able, after completing the course, to identify and interpret a relative simpler philosophical text by its theme (what is it about, by whom the text may also have been written). S/he is also able to consider thinking about art as a part of wider circumstances. S/he knows chosen philosophical doctrines and/or its proponents relevant to art.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Credit is given to all who are succeed in written test.
In the case of classified credit, maximally 30 points can be earned (1 rithtly answered question = 1 point).
30-26 points: A
25-20 points: B
19-14 points: C
13-10 points: D
9-6 points: E
5-0 points: F (not passed).

2 .A short history of ancient philosophy.
3. A short history of medieval philosophy.
4. A short history of modern philosophy.
5. A short history of twentieth century philosophy.
6. Logic.
7. Metaphysics.
8. Ethics.
9. Aesthetics.
10. Philosophy of law.
11. Philosophy of religion.
12. History of philosophy as a branch of philosophy itself.
13. Epistemology: paradoxes.
14. Projection.

Aims

The goal is a basic acquainment with a relevant fragment of a philosophical terminology as well as its method which is as argumentation; global chronological orientation across the history of ideas and their relations each other. The proper argumentation as a method of discussion about art: lookong philosophy at as a mother of aesthetisc.
