Introduction to Visual Theory - winter

FaVU-3UTEO-ZAcad. year: 2011/2012

The image can be analysed from various theoretical perspectives. It is possible to utilize the historical point of view and follow the changing modes and conception of the image from the ancient times to the present. Various geographical, social, gender, and other concepts of the image can be applied. Another possibility would be that of summarizing the theories of individual important authors (old or recent) and focusing primarily on the texts. We will deal with the texts of the importnt theoreticians, however, textual analysis does not constitute the main departure point of this subject. We will analyse the image from the point of view of important topisc and comparison with other cultural phenomena.
