Thermal Protection of Buildings

The basic subject of building thermal protection. Thermal comfort in buildings, solving of the thermal balance equation. Ways of the thermal transport. Thermal insulating properties of building materials. The design and evaluation of building structures in relation to thermal steady state conditions, multidimensional heat conduction (thermal bridges), unsteady thermal state conditions, a surface condensation and a vapour diffusion and condensation inside of building constructions. Thermal room stability in summer and winter period. Energetic evaluation of buildings. Measuring instruments and methods in building thermal protection.
Students complete a comprehensive thermal insulating design, evaluation of building envelopes and internal constructions including the thermal stability in individual assigned problems.

Course curriculum

1. Thermal comfort of environment, equation of thermal equilibrium, basic proceeding of heat transfer, Thermal-technical characteristics of building materials, steady thermal state, thermal resistence, the overall coeficient of heat transfer, course of temperature in construction
2. Unsteady thermal state, temperature damping, phase displacement of wave of temperature oscillation, drop of contact temperature of floors, thermal stability of room.
3. diffusion of humidity in construction, condensation of water vapour on inner surfaces of construction or inside construction, diffusion of air in construction
4. energy legislative, appraisal of energy intensiveness of building, requirements and criteria for designing and checking of building, measuring modes and apparatus in building thermal technology

Aims

Construction must be design for and adjudicate so that not happen to rise of the heat technical deficienty or dificiency. Must be fulfil requirements of regulation No. 137/1998 digest and CSN 73 0540-2:2002 from the viewpoint of the thermal cover of buildings and must be securing of low energy costingness of designing building and requisite thermal microclimate
