Structure and properties of non-metallic materials

Structure of molecular materials and polymers, interactions in organic solids, electron structure of molecules, molecular crystals and polymers, electrical conductivity, organic semiconductors, organic metals, transport electronic states, soliton, polaron, charge carrier generation and transport, photochromism and photoconductivity in molecular materials, molecular electronics, molecular engineering, optical, electrical and magnetic properties of molecules and solids, liquid crystals, non-linear optical media, photonics, organic material for new technologies.

Knowledge in the field of physical processes of nonmetallic materials.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge from organic and physical chemistry, solid state physics (basic course) and semiconductor physics (introduction).

Aims

The aim of the course is to get experience in complicated relationships of chemical structure vs. physical properties of nonmetallic materials. To learn principles of electrical, optical and magnetic processes of molecular materials.
