Personal Management

The course focuses especially on the following topics:
personality of the manager, self - management, stress management, description and characteristics of human resource management, staff selection and recruitment, methods of leading and evaluating of employees, motivation of employees, the importance of further education for the effective team leading , specifics of intercultural, gender, and age management and leadership.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire the theory, as well as with the knowledge and skills in the areas of:
Social perception and attribution, prevention of and coping with stress in managerial work, self-management, activities and processes of HR manager, recruitment, leading and motivating of employees, evaluating of workers, replacement etc.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in the field of personality psychology and management.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The graded course-unit credit is awarded on the following conditions:
Submitting of written assignment according to the explicit criterias and presenting of the paper during seminars, passing the oral exam.

Aims

The objective of the course is to provide students with synthetic view on the importance of a the human element in a working process. Students will acquire basic skills and social competence enabling adaptation of a human in social situations. They will be made familiar with the process of leading of employees in the company.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation in seminars, submitting the requested written assignment according to the explicit criterias and presenting of the paper in term.

Topics of lectures are the following:
- Social system in the company, working groups
- Professionalism in life and work
- Requirements laid on a successful manager
- Structure and importance of personal management in the company
- Selection procedure and recruitment

- Motivation of employees towards performance
- Employees evaluation methods
- Corporate culture

The seminars are focused on exercising of lectured topics and elaboration of partial studies and concluding written work.
