Social Life, Rhetorics And Business Ethics

The course addresses the problem of etiquette and business ethics, provides information and develops students’ skills in the area of communication in person or in a written form. Business ethics deals with a social and ethical attitude to business.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be made familiar with the modern attitude to doing business taking into account the social and ethical aspects.
They will master basic skills necessary for solving ethical dilemmas.
They will be able to participate in creation and application of tools intended for improving the business ethics in a company or institution.
Students will be able to speak in front of an audience and will be familiar with the rules of etiquette.

Prerequisites


The knowledge of doing business – types of business companies, tools of management, theory of behaviour of company, theory of behaviour of customers, international business manners.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit requirements:
1. Participation in the exercises
2. Fulfilling the assignment and submitting written reports of required content and form.
Student has to demonstrate his/her ability to apply the theoretical knowledge in practice.

On the exercises the topic of lectures are trained. The case studies are solved by team of students or individually by student.

Aims

The objective of the course is to introduce an ethical and social dimensions of business. Globalisation of economy brings new challenges, which the coming generation should be able to solve using the knowledge of the contemporary theory.
Case studies which are a part of exercises should help students to solve ethical dilemmas.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Students have to present their reports in front of other students in seminars.
