Exercises for Maintaining and Developing Fitness

Students will receive an overview of the function of basic training equipment and correct exercise techniques. They will learn to eliminate and correct gross mistakes during exercise. They will get to know the training models which are typical for cardio fitness.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The aim of the subject is to get acquainted with a complex of exercises which are focused on the maintenance and development of fitness, learn what these exercises enable and what they offer to recreational sportspeople. Students will receive an overview of the function of basic training equipment and correct exercise techniques. They will learn to eliminate and correct gross mistakes during exercise. They will get to know the training models which are typical for cardio fitness. The aim of the subject is also the application of the knowledge and skills learned to the practical creation of programmes which are focused on the development of the organism in the area of fitness.

Knowledge of human biology and Working wiht your body.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Awarding of credit:
For the awarding of a classified credit, active participation in the tuition, submission of an exercise plan for a selected form of exercise (50 points) and the successful passing of a test of knowledge (50 points) are required.

Form of the examination and the final classification of the subject:
Submission of an exercise plan for a selected form of exercise (50 points) and the successful passing of a knowledge test (50 points). A total of 100 points can be obtained within the framework of classification, while the classification is as follows:

- Health and age limitations for aerobic (cardio fitness) activities.
- Forms of activities in the field of cardio fitness. Equipment of cardio fitness zones and halls.
- Technique of exercise on cardio fitness trainers -stationary bikes.
- Technique of exercise on cardio fitness trainers - rowing trainers.
- Technique of exercise on cardio fitness trainers - orbitreks.
- Technique of exercise on cardio fitness trainers - running and walking belts.
- Exercise technique - Nordic walking.
- Stretching and cardio fitness activities.
- Bodybuilding as a supplement to cardio fitness.
- The fundamentals of cardio fitness training.
- Occupational health and safety and first aid during cardio fitness activities.

Aims

The aim of the subject is to get acquainted with a complex of exercises which are focused on the maintenance and development of fitness, learn what these exercises enable and what they offer to recreational sportspeople. Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation in practical lessons. Continuous preparation for the practical lessons. Test of knowledge. In the case of absence (official letter giving the reason for absence) - substitution for missed lessons for more than one duly excused absence.
