This course introduces into the wide field of lighting technology and acquaints students with the most important aspects of this field. Students will learn the basic quantities and their relationships, properties of vision, which is in lighting technology primary aim pursued. Other topics include anatomy of the eye and visual functions, discomfort glare and its evaluation, limit states of vision, the colour theory, importance of light spectrum and spectral assessment of the light. From the perspective of electrical engineering is particularly important the part of electric light sources, where the students are familiarized with virtually all of today's lighting source technologies with an emphasis on the perspective ones, such as LEDs.
