Electric machines, apparatuses, drives and power electronics

Basic laws used in theory of electrical machines and apparatuses. Principles, magnetic circuits and their calculations. Voltage and torque equations.Equivalent circuits. Principles of design. Power flow analyses. Construction and classification of LV, MV and HV apparatuses. MCBs, current residual devices, relays, fuses, electromagnets, switches, switch disconnectors, lightning arrestors. Application in el. network realization.

Aims

Students introductory course to the theory, operation, testing and characteristics of the basic types of electrical machines apparatuses and electrical drives and power electronics. Basic laws used in this theory. Principles, construction and technical realization of the el. machines, apparatuses and drives.El. devices application in LV installation.

Basic electrotechnical laws application in electromechanical power convertion. Basic types of electric machines, apparatuses and drives.
Transformers, principle, construction, application, voltage equations and operation characteristics.
Induction machines, principle, construction, application, torque equations and operation characteristics.
Synchronous machines, principle, construction, application, vector diagram, torque equations and operation characteristics.
Direct current machines, principle, construction, application, basic connections ,voltage and torque equations and operation
Special machines, example, principle, construction, application of step motors, universal, hysteresis and linear motors
Electrical apparatuses, definitions, principle, classification and operation.
LV electrical apparatuses(MCB, residual current devices, contactors, relays, fuses, electromagnets, overvoltage devices).
MV and HV electrical apparatuses. Classification, construction(switches, disconnectors, lightning arrestors).
Rectifiers, convertors, frequency convertors, application.
Static switching devices
Electric drives, theoretical introduction, definition, mechanical properties, energy flow.
Electric drives using induction motors, DC motors and synchronous motors.
