Course detail

Technical Measurement

FSI-VTMAcad. year: 2011/2012

The course is concerned with basic of metrology and measurement theory in technical practice and basic principles of measuring instruments used in control systems. The students are acquainted with methods of measurement, measuring quantities and their units. Properties of measuring devices are also discussed with respect to their static, dynamic, information and other properties. Special attention is paid to problems of errors and uncertainties in measurement, their analysis and correction. Measurement of technical quantities in everyday practice of mechanical engineering and its automation is resolved in detail. Basic principles and instruments for measuring individual quantities are presented in applications of automation and control, control loop and automation measuring systems above all. The attention is also focused on temperature, pressure and strength, length, flow, humidity, heat quantity, analysis of gases and fluids and various others quantities.
