Safety of Work on Earthwork Machines

The course is aimed towards the safety regulations valid for work with the earthwork machines, namely towards the regulation 324 of the Czech Labour Safety Office and of the Czech Mining Office from July 31, 1990. The course includes the site investigation, the securing of the excavation operations, the operation conditions of earthwork machines, the duties of machine operators, the forbidden handling with machines, the manner of machines transport on public roads etc.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The graduation of this course is obligatory for all persons interested in attaining licence for controling earthwork machines. Students will gain knowledge necessary for every officer who controls activities of the staff doing earthwork. His/her control work must correspond with valid safety regulations and laws.

Prerequisites

Students are required to have basic knowledge of technical mechanics, physics, higher mathematics, machine parts and their mechanism, physics of materials and principles of electrotechnical engineering.

Aims

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic terms of dangerous activities in the sense of the regulation 324. Students will be made familiar with the duties of machine operators, the duties of supervisors (site managers, leading crews) mainly from aspect of making safe working environment and avoiding accidents and breakdowns during controlling the earthwork machines.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The attendance at seminars is obligatory, recorded by the teacher. The form of compensation of missed lessons (in justified cases) is solved individually with the subject guarantee person.
