Course detail
FSI-KDPAcad. year: 2011/2012
Mass transfer processes are used in the petroleum, chemical, petrochemical, pulp, pharmaceutical, mineral and other industries. Major portions of investment and operating expenses are associated with one or more separation processes, which are based on mass transfer. This course begins with the coverage of principles that intersect most separation processes: phase equilibrium, diffusion of mass and phase segregation. Next the course contains description of specific mass transfer processes: distillation, absorption, extraction. Attention is given to the drying, crystallization and some membrane processes. Last part of the course is oriented to the design of equipment parameters of these processes.
