Insurance

The course "Insurance" explain what the insurance industry as part of financial services and the importance of insurance protection to potential clients of insurance companies. Provides basic knowledge of insurance theory, individual insurance industry, the principles of operation of commercial insurance companies as insurance companies. Acquainted with the EU legislation on insurance laws adopted in terms of the insurance market in the Czech Republic and the current management of commercial insurance issues. Inform people about insurance products and paves the way for wider student orientation in the policy conditions of selected insurance companies.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The acquired knowledge will enable students to better understand the issue of providing insurance coverage and insurance sectors. Teaching students to contribute to the understanding of commercial insurance, risk management and the need for a deeper understanding of the consequences of possible solutions to uncertain claims. Students will be able to understand the range of insurance products in the insurance market in the Czech Republic, to the extent of insurance cover and how to return the claim. Understanding the rules of regulation and supervision of insurance to help students gain a broader overview of the implementation of legal standards of the European Union in terms of financial and insurance market in the Czech Republic. Students will be able to solve dovedněji health and wealth of natural and legal persons using commercial insurance.

Prerequisites

The course of study is the feed rate of insurance theory, which extends the basic knowledge of students. For successful completion of the course must have the required knowledge of business economics and be able to understand the current information from the insurance market of the European Union and the Czech Republic.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of instruction and are described in Article 7 of the Study and Examination Regulations of BUT.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

For the award of credit is required to satisfy the following conditions:
1st Mandatory and active participation in exercises.
2nd Processing, presentation and submission of essay on an assigned topic.
3rd Successful completion of a credit hour exam (60%).

The exam is oral (a condition for admission to the test for credit).

Lectures

Introduction. Risk and Insurance - definition of risk, risk classification, risk management, financial risk coverage. Insurance and insurance - the characteristics, principles of insurance, insurance agencies, insurance relationship, retaining an interest. Classification of insurance - insurance, according to the classification of basic insurance theory and practice under the insurance, the insurance industry. Life insurance - endowment life insurance investment life insurance, pension insurance, life insurance in economics, statistics, life insurance, demographic and pension system. Non-life insurance - property insurance, motor insurance, liability insurance, insurance value, non-life insurance statistics, a model example of insurance companies. Reinsurance - significance and challenges collateral securing structure, co-insurance insurance pools. Insurance commercial insurance business - the creation of insurance, insurance management, and claims handling, prevention activities. Capital equipment and investment activities of insurance companies - capital, technical reserves, investments, limits on investments, Solvency II. Management of commercial insurance - income, expenses, earnings, annual insurance report. Legal Standards of Insurance - Insurance Act, Act on Insurance Contract Law on Insurance Intermediaries and Independent Loss Adjusters, Insurance Act liability for damage caused by vehicles. Regulation and Supervision in Insurance - the scope and object of supervision in the insurance industry associations, international institutions in the insurance industry. The insurance market - breakdown insurance market indicators of the insurance market, insurance market, the CR statistic. Current insurance issues in the CR and the EU.
Exercise

Home exercises - to acquaint students with the content of training, seminar topics and work requirements for the processing, delivery and presentation. Build teams and seminar papers. Personal insurance - life insurance, pension insurance, accident insurance, serious illness, travel insurance, group insurance. Insurance business and industry - insurance, property insurance, property and buildings insurance against theft, insurance, machinery and equipment, construction and installation insurance, business interruption insurance, transportation insurance, goods in transit, liability insurance, product liability insurance, liability for damage caused by environmental pollution, insurance, legal assistance. Motor insurance - motor insurance, motor vehicle liability insurance for damage caused to vehicles. The insurance market - insurance fraud, the current state of the insurance market in the CR and the EU. Marketing of commercial insurance - commercial insurance products offer insurance on the Internet, "calculator" insurance products, insurance promotional materials.

Aims

The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge and current information from the insurance industry. To acquaint them with the safety theory, principles of insurance and insurance protection. Tell them to offer insurance market in the Czech Republic, various types of insurance, including pointing out problem areas from the sale of insurance products, insurance administration and claims handling.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is compulsory. The seminars will be presented essay on an assigned topic and to the extent required. The control is the content and formal treatment of seminar work. Attendance at lectures is recommended.
