Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course ‚Transport machines‘ will enable the students to gain the basic knowledge about the development of the branch. In addition, students will be made familiar with solutions of some typical structural construction nodes and mechanisms. The acquaired knowledge will help them with the appropriate selection and design of transport machines.

Prerequisites

Students are required to have basic knowledge of technical mechanics, physics, higher mathematics, machine parts and their mechanism, physics of materials and principles of electrotechnical ingineering.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The examination has a written and oral part. Written part of the exam is evaluated by 50 points; it is necessary to achieve at least 25 points to be accepted for the oral part. Oral exam is evaluated independently and it is the same weight as the written part.

Aims

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the meaning of materials handling in manufacturing and storing. Students will learn of typical representatives of manipulation and storing machines, such as container cranes, shelf stowing machines, lift trucks, trolley cranes and workshop cranes, conveyers and lifts.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is obligatory, recorded by teacher. The way of compensation of missed lessons (in justified cases) is solved individualy with the subject provider.
