Current issues in Art

Students will learn about the possibilites of critical view on the current art wordl, the activities of art institutions and the media.
The course introduces the methodology of the production of the concept and active preparations of the artistic project, the role of the curator, and the roles of other art agents.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will process an exhibition or artistic project (on an individual or team basis) with the corresponding follow-up activities.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of art theory from the BA cycle
Art management and agency course

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Seminar, guided discussion. Some seminars take place in the art intitutions.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Credit. The credit is granted for the conception, processing, implementation, and defence of the art project, which must be set into concrete context and setting.

Course curriculum

Possible topics:
The conception and lectoring of art events and follow-up programs, curator's duties, the relationship of the curator and the artist, projects in professional and laternative institutions, the production of the written concept of the exhibition, the grant project, the basics of art journalism.

Aims

Students will have a basic knowledge of exhitbition production, conception, curator's and critic's work.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at the seminar is mandatory. Abesences can be compensated by the form of a long paper, both oral and written.
