History of timber structures (TS), view of timber application in structures. Properties of wood and wood-based materials for structural purposes. Czech and foreign standards for structural design. Limit states and rules of computer modelling of TS. Basic types of strain of timber members and their verifying.Fasteners – mechanical connections, glued connections.Plane solid and truss structures – girders, frames, and arches. Rules of structural design and theoretical analysis. Spatial structures – laminated structures, spatial trusses, ribbed domes, vaults and shells.Timber bridges and footbridges. Specialized TS.Production and assembly of TS.Protection and maintenance of TS.Fire resistance of timber buildings.Principles of TS reconstruction and rehabilitation.Examples of realized TS.
