Foundation Engineering

Shallow footings for water structures. Water pressure tests. Classical injection – sealing, hardening, compensation, plugging shutters. Jet groutin – technology, design, utilization in water building. Diaphragm walls – constructive, sheeting and sealing. Usage of sealing walls in water building and environmental geotechnics. Encapsulation. Protection of waste dumps. Cofferdams – type, design and static check of coffers, hydraulic stability of coffers. Foundation of water structures.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will master the course objective - the design of water structure foundations, injection methods of subsoil, reliable design of cofferdams.

Prerequisites

Types of foundation soils, properties of soils, limit states theory, basic principles of structural mechanics, theory of strength and elasticity, structure design.

2. Water pressure tests. Classical injection in water structures.
3. Jet grouting.
4. Diaphragm walls. Encapsulation. Protection of waste dumps.
5. Cofferdams – types and using.
6. Static design and hydraulic stability of coffers.
7. Foundation of water structures in difficult foundation conditions.
