Spanish Upper-Intermediate

This course concentrates on the following areas:
- understand daily life phrases and have conversations about themes and problems of daily life,
- use of all basic tenses in present, past and future.

The course will conclude with a test, which will asses the students’ knowledge of useful vocabulary and phrases and their ability to understand texts.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student will be able to understand slightly sophisticated texts and listenings, will be able to present information from spoken and written sources, will be able to express themselves spontaneously and effectively for social, study and working purposes, will achieve the target level A2 higher accrding to the CEFR

Prerequisites

Students should have knowledge of the level that corresponds to exam BY00 and to subject BYS4 so they can take profit of this course.

Course curriculum

All units are from Nuevo Ven 2.

Week 1 - Unit 1 – Explain the biography of somebody: talk about his/her hobbies and what he or she likes to do.

Week 2 - Unit 1 – Express continuity and duration – estaba + gerundio, llevar + gerundio.

Week 3 - Unit 2 – Speak about humor. Describe the personality of somebody. Ask and express about personal opinion. Adjectives that describe someone’s personality.

Week 4 - Unit 2 – Difference between ser and estar. Fututo imperfecto of regular and irregular verbs.

Week 5 - Unit 3 – Express obligation in personal and impersonal forms. Give instructions and orders.

Week 6 - Unit 3 – Subjunctive of regular verbs. Positive and negative orders.

Week 7 - Unit 4 – Express probability and explain the way to somewhere.

Week 8 - Unit 4 – Conditional simple tense. Préterito Plusquamperfecto of regular and irregular verbs.

Week 9 - Unit 5 – Transmission of information given by somebody else. Ask and give information to someone else.

Week 10 – Unit 5 – Indirect style. Transmission of questions.

Week 11 – Practicing of studied grammar and vocabulary.

Week 12– Conversations about studied themes.

Week 13 – Tests.

The aim of this course is to teach the Spanish language and the basic communicative skills that are necessary to achieve the level B1 inferior.
