Studio - HOUSE AND PLACE

Creative studio work is the main and essential means of teaching architecture. It is based on the "learning by doing" method, i.e. gaining knowledge and skills by practical application. It consists in the dialogue of the teacher with the student over a project that is being developed.

By completing with succes the study of the subject, the student gains the ability to design,in a wider kontext, big constructions with more complex functional and structural relationships

Prerequisites

Prerquisite of enrolment for the subject is the basic knowledge of building construction design and , according to the assignment, also the knowledge of the respective typology

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The works are set and evaluated by work leader. Specialists from Institute of Construction and Building Structure consult the project according to its definition, eventually other practice specialists. Studio project is during processing phases shown on critics and continuously evaluated according to preset criterions.
Studio work is marked using ECTS mark scale.

Aims

The aim of teaching this subject is to prepare the students for solving the architectural design of a big constructiong that puts more complex demands on the construction‘s function and structure , in a wider local context (and basic urban planning relationships).

Mandatory attendance on critical discussions and keeping agreed project delivery deadline.

The architectural design of a construction and its local relationships is documented by:
- plan view, sections and views , scale 1:200
- situation plan, scale 1:500
- possibly, design of internal equipment, scale 1:20
- model
- technical report
