Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will have a clear idea of modern approaches to the quality management in a company, including the most frequently used quality management systems, namely according to the standards ISO 9000, TQM and EFQM.

Prerequisites

Fundamentals of organization and managerial functions of the company, understanding the importance of customers in a market economy.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions for awarding the course-unit credit:
1. Active participation in exercises will be controlled and assessed by teacher - max. 100 points.
2. Successful completion of credit test - max assessment: 100 points in due term, 80 points in a resit exam and 60 points in the second resit exam.
3. Successful elaboration of semester work in a preset deadline. Maximum 100 points for handing over on the deadline max 80 points for late handing over.
4. Total number of points needed for awarding the course-unit credit has to be higher than 150.
Conditions for passing an exam: Knowledge of taught topics and their practical application.
Form of examination: Combined - a written test possibly followed by an oral examination.

National policy of quality support
Quality loop
Fundamental methods of quality management (FMEA, QFD, POKA - YOKE, FTA, Cycle P - D - C - A, quality diary, reliability analysis )
Role of human factor in quality
Customer satisfaction
Quality management systems (ISO 9000, TQM, ISO 14 000, EFQM)
Quality economics
Corporate strategy of quality
Certification
The seminars are focused on practising the lectured topics and elaboration of case studies (both individually and in teams).

Aims

The main objective of the course is to provide students with the theoretical foundations and methodology necessary for the quality management in the company. Also dealt with is mastering of modern management approaches to and methods of quality management necessary for the TOP management.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Control of results of independent work on specified tasks. Excused absence from seminars can be compensated for via additional condition set by the teacher, usually via elaboration of partial written task.
