Logistics harmonize material flows in all forms of material principles with information flows for obtaining economy both for customers and providers. Logistics is one of the form process value chains – supply chains, which connect enterprise with their customers and suppliers. Knowledge of logistics conception and ability how should be realize is important competitiveness potential of each manager.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to creatively participate in enterprise logistics system creation. They acquire the basic knowledge of logistics components; economy of logistics activities and their assessments. The course focuses on integration student’s skills, which are necessary for using of logistic management in practise.

Prerequisites

The course is a follow-up and apply all completed obtained knowledge form the economic areas; business; information technology and production management.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions for awarding the course – unit credit: participation in exercises, fulfilling the assignments, and submitting case study of required content and form including presentation of results.
The exam has a written and an oral part.
The written part of the examination contains examples. The oral part tests student’s ability to understand and apply the theoretical knowledge of logistic management.

Aims

The objective of the course is to understand and cope of logistics as system discipline.
From place, time and organization point of view, logistics describe and complement basic transformation function of enterprise by characteristics of material and information flows and their management and control.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance is required and checked by the tutor in written form of an attendance list. Also controlled is a partial solution of the case study in the middle of the semester.
