Psychology of Physical Culture

Students will gain basic knowledge about the subject in question and about the internal division of psychology. They will be acquainted with basic theories and terms, and gain knowledge from the psychology of physical exercises and the basics of mental hygiene.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The aim of the subject is to understand the laws behind and mechanisms of the creation, formation and course of human experience and behaviour. It is to learn to understand a personality in a mutual relationship with the environment. It is also to acquaint the students with basic knowledge form the areas of developmental psychology, psychology of personality, the theory of learning and social psychology.

Basic orientation in psychology at school level.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Form of the examination and final classification of the subject:
Credit: The credit is awarded on the basis of attendance at the lectures and active participation in them (papers, demonstrations, self-study). Active presentacion (30 points).

Examination: test (max. 70 points).
Classification: A - F (1 - 4)

Course curriculum

- Psychology as a science. Psychological sciences. History of psychology.
- The subject of psychology, basic psychological terms and categories.
- Psychological disciplines. Methods of psychology.
- Psychic processes and states (cognitive processes, emotions).
- Personality and its properties. Mental phenomena of a personality.
- Mental hygiene.
- Social groups. Group climate.
- Psychology of sport. The system of sport psychology, historical development, contemporary status of sports psychology, sports typology. Personality of a sportsman - abilities in relation to sports activity.
- Ontogenesis of men in relation to sport activities. Stages of motor learning, Plato effect and forgetting curve. Pre-start, start and competition states, psychological failure. Sport and mental health, mental hygiene of sportsmen.
- Assertiveness and Aggression in sport.
- Psychomotricity and its use in work with sportsmen.

Aims

The aim of the subject is to understand the laws behind and mechanisms of the creation, formation and course of human experience and behaviour. It is to learn to understand a personality in a mutual relationship with the environment. It is also to acquaint the students with basic knowledge form the areas of developmental psychology, psychology of personality, the theory of learning and social psychology and sport psychology.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The subject is composed of lectures, which are compulsory. The subject will be concluded with an oral examination. Any absence has to be duly excused and substituted for after agreement with the head of the subject.
