Laboratory Classes in Instrumental and Structure Analysis - MS

FCH-MCA_ISA_MAcad. year: 2012/2013

Students are introduced with basic methods making possible uncovering, observation and evaluation of supramolecular structure of polymer materials both theoretically and practically. Microscopy, spectroscopy and thermal methods are used. The half of the subject time serves to obtain theoretical background of selected methods and the other one to practice them. The stress is laid on proper preparation of the sample, suitable setting of testing conditions, accurate evaluation and interpretation of obtained data including examination of the method availability for tested material.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course credit is awarded after fulfillment of the following conditions:
- the attendance in all theoretical and laboratory practics,
- producing and handover of all laboratory reports in time and in demanded quality,
- passing thematic tests
- passing the credit test – minimum score is 50%

Course curriculum

Introduction

Aims

The aim is to understand that final properties of polymer materials and done by supramolecular structure, which can be observed both directly and indirectly and which can be changed very easily by heating and melt cooling conditions in case of thermoplastics.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

It is demanded the attendance in all practices. In case of the absence, the practice can be compensated with another group or in the last week of the term. An unexcused absence is the reason for the loss of the credit.
Theoretical knowledge of students regarding the particular theme is examined by written tests.
Laboratory reports are handover according the instructions of lecturer.
