Mode of study

Not applicable.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will gain essential knowledge of ventilation, air-conditioning
and heating systems, evaluation of indoor air quality and the means of
noise reduction.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

One-day exam consists of both written and oral parts. Four questions (two theoretical and a practical two) are given. A personal calculator is required to solve the practical question; moreover, the examinee may bring and use their own literature. The overall exam
evaluation equally accounts for both the theoretical and practical part.

Course curriculum

Work placements

Not applicable.

Aims

The course objective is to make students familiar with basic concepts and techniques used for creating an optimal indoor environment. Students will learn of the design and operation of equipments of thermal and humidity comfort (heating/cooling/humidification/dehumidification), air cleanliness control, and means of noise reduction in working environment.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Course-unit credit requirements: Attendance at seminars and meeting requirements defined by the teacher during the term.

Recommended optional programme components

Not applicable.

Prerequisites and corequisites
