Learning outcomes of the course unit

Basic orientation in industrial and visual communication design. Successfull accomplishment of the subject is a part of selection of applicants for the design branch studies (Industrial Design, Visual Communication Design).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit requirements: attendance in lessons, meeting assigned projects deadlines in a sufficient quality, passing the final test.
The quality of the output and the attendance to the course will be taken in account when evaluating the talent examination to the Industrial Design branch.

Aims

The aim of this course is to explain the principles of design, its meaning and scope, to verify the knowledge in the area of imaging objects.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The attendance in lectures is recommended. The attendance in workshop education is controlled. Students have to be present at scheduled hours in the schoolroom, work on given projects and wait for consultation, unless a lecturer gives other individual plan. The excuse of absence is possible only due serious reasons, e.g. illness.
Absolving the course (Graded course-unit credit) is a requirement for acceptance to the Industrial Design branch.

8. Aspects of designer’s work, industrial designer, professional behaviour of designers, interdisciplinary and team work;
9. Methods of design work - design analysis, procedure of work on design , design project – from idea to prototype (sketch, drawing, modelling, draft, treatment on computer;
