Safe electrical engineering

Subject lets interested person to gain knowledge about fundamentals, legal provision, safety rules and technical standards from areas of safety work in electrical engineering, about safe operation of electrical arrangement and installation of low voltage and prepare students to examination in terms of public notice CUBP and CBU No. 50/1978 Sb. about qualification in electrical engineering. After successful examinations students obtains qualification level "worker for independent activity".

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Qualification for independent work on electric arrangement in light of safe work and safe operation. Knowledge of appropriate law and technical standards.
Fundamental ability to realization of protection against electric shock, protection against overcurrent and short circuit currents, protections against effect of overvoltage and against fire ignition from electric arrangement.
Fundamental orientation in risks evaluation of electrical arrangement.
Knowledge of first aid at electric shock.

The subject knowledge on the secondary school education level is requested.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Requirements for completion of a course are specified by a regulation issued by the lecturer responsible for the course and updated for every.

Course curriculum

1. Czech and European legislative, technical standards, qualification in electrical engineering.
2. Effects of electric current on human organism, laic first aid in case of electric shock
3. Electric arrangement, electrical installation, electrical device mounting, conductor and terminals notation, handheld electrical tools.
4. Classification of external influence, locations class in viewpoint of electric shock hazard, protection of electrical device.
5. Safe product, safe installation, safe activity, periods of verification and inspection.
6. Protective and working tools, standardized security message.
7. Protection against electric shock.
8. Protection of electric and electronic devices against lightning and overvoltage.
9. Fire safety of electrical installation and electrical devices.
10. Safety regulations for operation and work on electric devices.
11. Building and operation of electrical testing devices.
12. Electrical equipment of machine and production system.
13. Searching, classification and prevention of risk of electrical device operation.

Aims

Make the one's acquaintance principle of safe layout and safe operation of electrical devices and installation of low voltage as a part of FEEC students' erudition.
Prepare students to examination in accordance to public notice CUBP and CBU No. 50/1978 Sb. about qualification in electrical engineering, to after successful fulfillment of examination acquire qualification "worker for independent activity". This qualification is necessary for independent work on electrical devices and installation.
