Safety Management in Industry

Safety management in industry is based on the management system and is focused on the risk minimization. Significant support of safety management represent existing legislation derived from EU legislation in this domain. Logical procedure continue by safety audit and explanation of the safety audit results. The very significant possition in the safety management has human factor, which is dominant in the all steps of technical lifetime.

The prerequisite to study this subject is knowledge of the basic principles of mathematics.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Credit conditions: active attendance on seminars, case studies, test. The prescribed scope must be studied by the students to go to test, maximum scoring rate of this test is 100. The subject is classified according to the ECTS classification scale.

Aims

The first and main goal - understaning of the prevention approach in loss prevention domain. This object/course uncovers a set of todays methos for hazard identification and risk assessment in the process and related industries.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The subject consists of lectures and consultations, the students’ participation shall be checked.

1. From quality to safety – Connection of Safety quality management systems to quality management systems, integrated management system.
2. Risk - Basic information, social risk x individual risk, the risk matrix. Principles of risk prevention, concept of safety management and risk management, basic concepts (danger, threat, risk), hazardous properties. The principle of risk prevention - the elimination of resources, prevention, minimization of the consequences.
3. Safety statistics.
4. Occupational safety and health at work. Safety training.
5. Fire safety.
6. Emergency planning, emergency zones.
7. Safety and protection against explosion ATEX 100 and 137.
8. Safety management systems.
9. Environmental management systems.
