Introduction to theory of building microclimate and its making. Energy budget related with heating of the building. Classification of the heating systems and its parts. Water and steam heating systems, dividing, purpose, using. Radiators, types, using, design. Source of the energy for the heating, its dispositional solving, design and requirements for the running. Central heating supply and its use for heating of the buildings. Central preparation of the domestic hot water. Safety equipment of heating systems. Making of the microclimate of the spaces, moist air and its adjustments. Moist-thermal stress of the building. Systems of the natural and forced ventilation, hot air heating. Main parts of the air conditioning systems, air distribution, boiler-rooms. Air conditioning systems, kinds, using. Recuperation on the air conditioning systems. Application air conditioning systems in civil building and in industry.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Basic overview of the field of heating and air conditioning. The emphasis is on practical applications. Awareness of natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation. Procedures for the design and operation of HVAC systems. Overview of the fuels for heating. Securing of heating systems.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of thermodynamics, mathematics, physics building.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. Lectures are presented using the projector in the auditorium. During the classes are short excursion to the laboratories of the Institute of Building Services.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Attendance to exercise. Submitting the protocols of exercise in the credit week. Writing a written test at a satisfactory grade.

Basics of heating and air conditioning. Creation of internal microclimate of the buildongs by the systems of heating and air conditioning.
