Landscape water management project

FAST-BS07Acad. year: 2012/2013

Project will solve complex watershed protection including erosion control measures for protection of agricultural land resources, water management measures for improvement of water conditions, for drainage of water, for flood control, for surface water and groundwater protection and irrigation and drainage structures. The design of small water reservoir-pond.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Overview and orientation in project preparation a pond, design erosion control measures, design of drainage and irrigation structures Ability to analyze a given problem, overview of necessary data and principles of project processing, ability to use up-to-date computing technology in project, orientation in related technical regulations and standards

Prerequisites

Hydraulics, hydrology, landscape water management, pedology.

Co-requisites

Water utilization planning of reservoir, pedology, hydrology, hydraulics, earth dams, spillways, flood routing, irrigation and drainage, erosion control measures, water management measures, GIS.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Active participation in seminars, and delivering the results according to terms of project.

Course curriculum

1. Project task, fundaments completion and evaluation
2. Anylysis and evaluation of actual conditions
3.-12. Technical solution design including hydrologic and hydraulic calculations
13. Completion of graphical appendices and technical report.

Syllabus

Will be subject to choosing a solution areas: Ponds - analysis of input documents, water utilization planning of reservoir, dam design, design objects. Development of simplified project documentation. Watershed protection- analysis of input documents, calculation MEO - USLE, the design erosion and water management measures, evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed measures, the development of simplified design documentation. Irrigation- analysis of input materials, design garden irrigation, irrigation design and football field, design of irrigation of the golf course, the processing of simplified design documentation. Drainage-analysis of inputs documents, design protection area adjacent to the stream before waterlogged from weir backwater and internal and external waters. Development of simplified project documentation.
