Course detail

Road Design

FAST-CM01Acad. year: 2012/2013

Preliminary design and final design of grade separated interchange. Horizontal and vertical geometry (situation, longitudinal profiles), typical sections (category width, superelevation, road widening in curves), earth construction (typical cross section and detailed operative cross sections). Creation of 3D model and contours project. Simplified visualization. Drainage of roads (hydro technical computation). Earthwork, calculation of its volume, soil transport. Constructions on roads. Traffic safety.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Project of a grade-separated interchange in a training map is the fundamental method of education.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Practices are finished with a credit classification with condition of adequate attendance (max two absences), supply of all computational exercises and of a complete project in extent described in classes (simplified project at the level of study).
Exam consists of written and oral part. Questions agree with lectures through semester.

Course curriculum

1. Aesthetics and space solution of roads.
2. At-grade intersections.
